Sports Injuries We Specialise In

Our sports physiotherapy team is trained to assess, diagnose and rehabilitate the full spectrum of athletic and activity-related musculoskeletal injuries.

Ligament Sprains & Tears

ACL, MCL, PCL and ankle ligament injuries treated with structured progressive rehab to restore full joint stability and strength.

Muscle Strains & Tears

Hamstring, quadriceps, calf and rotator cuff muscle injuries managed from acute phase through to full functional return.

Tendon Injuries

Patellar tendinopathy, Achilles tendinitis, tennis elbow and golfer's elbow treated with load-based rehabilitation protocols.

Fracture Rehabilitation

Post-immobilisation recovery following fractures - restoring range of motion, strength and sport-specific function progressively.

Overuse & Stress Injuries

Runner's knee, shin splints, IT band syndrome and stress fractures addressed with load management and biomechanical correction.

Shoulder & Rotator Cuff

Rotator cuff tears, shoulder impingement, labral injuries and post-dislocation rehabilitation for complete shoulder function restoration.

How We Treat

A Performance-First Approach to Recovery

Our sports rehabilitation programme goes beyond pain relief. We focus on restoring full athletic function - using a combination of hands-on manual therapy, exercise science and sport-specific training protocols to ensure you return stronger than before.

Accurate Clinical Assessment Comprehensive biomechanical evaluation to identify the exact nature and root cause of your injury.
Manual Therapy & Soft Tissue Work Targeted joint mobilisation, myofascial release and trigger point therapy to reduce pain and restore mobility.
Progressive Sport-Specific Exercise Structured loading programme designed around your sport, position and performance requirements.
Return-to-Sport Clearance Testing Objective functional tests and strength benchmarks before you are cleared to return to full training and competition.

Your Recovery Journey

The 4 Phases of Sports Rehabilitation

Every sports injury rehabilitation programme at Physio Aalaya follows a structured, evidence-based progression through four clinical phases.

01

Acute Management

Week 1-2

Control pain and inflammation, protect the injured tissue, restore initial range of motion and prevent muscle atrophy.

02

Rehabilitation

Week 2-8

Progressive strengthening, neuromuscular re-education, manual therapy and restoration of full joint range of motion.

03

Functional Training

Week 8-16

Sport-specific movement patterns, agility work, plyometric training and building power and endurance.

04

Return to Sport

Week 16+

Performance testing, final clearance, confidence building and ongoing monitoring during return to full training and competition.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The earlier, the better. For most sports injuries, physiotherapy should begin within 24-72 hours of the injury once initial swelling is controlled. Early intervention reduces recovery time significantly, prevents muscle atrophy, and ensures the tissue heals in the right alignment. Waiting too long can lead to compensatory movement patterns that create secondary problems.

Recovery timelines vary depending on the type and severity of the injury. Minor muscle strains may resolve in 2-4 weeks, while complex ligament tears or post-surgical rehab (such as ACL reconstruction) can take 4-9 months. Our team will give you a realistic timeline after your initial assessment and review it as you progress through each phase.

In most cases, partial or modified activity is encouraged - complete rest is rarely the best approach. Our team will advise on what activity is safe at each phase of your recovery. You may be cleared to continue low-impact or upper-body training even while a lower-limb injury heals. Return to full sport is only recommended once you pass our objective return-to-sport clearance tests.

No referral is required. You can book directly with our physiotherapy team for an assessment. However, if you have had recent surgery, a confirmed fracture, or a complex medical history, bringing any available reports or scan results to your first session will help us design the most appropriate programme for you from day one.

Sports physiotherapy focuses specifically on athletic injuries, performance recovery and sport-specific functional goals. While general physiotherapy aims to restore everyday function, sports rehab is designed to return you to high-demand physical activity - with precise testing for strength symmetry, power output and sport-specific movement. Our protocols are built around your sport, not just your symptoms.
